ZSL Whipsnade Zoo welcomes baby giraffe
ZSL Whipsnade Zoo has released pictures of a new baby giraffe born at the end of February.
Fourth-time mum Savannah kept zookeepers guessing for weeks after her expected due-date came and went, finally giving birth to a female calf on 24 February.
Keepers have named her Nuru, the Swahili word for light. She measures 5ft 6in (1.7m) and is a fluffy, miniature picture of her 16-foot (4.8m) tall mum.
