'I couldn't eat what I wanted, I couldn't go and see my family'
We're asking this because of a couple of blogs we've come across. One of them looks at the experiences of three women who have been in emotionally abusive relationships. It was only last year that a new law change came about in England and Wales to include psychological and emotional torment under domestic abuse. That includes controlling behaviour by one partner over another - for example if your husband tells you what to wear or who you can and cannot see. But is that kind of behaviour the norm in parts of the Asian community? 'Maya', who suffered emotional and physical abuse over 23 years, shares her story with Nihal.
