Why aren't fishermen allowed on Eastbourne Pier anymore?
A fire ripped through Eastbourne Pier in July 2014, destroying a third of the 1870 Grade II listed structure. In October 2015 a flamboyant businessman Sheikh Abid Gulzar bought and renovated the pier, painting parts of the pier gold and causing outrage among some local residents. He also banned dogs, fishing and picnics from the pier.
The new owner explains why fishermen and are now banned from the refurbished pier.
