Hospice Hope

A charity in North West Leicestershire is about to realise its 14-YEAR ambition of creating a much-needed hospice for thousands of people with life-limiting illnesses.

Hospice Hope started work in the area back in 2002, stepping in to support patients following the closure of the Sue Ryder Hospice at Staunton Harold.

It's estimated that across the district, one in four households have someone living there with a life-limiting condition.

The organisation knew it needed to create a specialist centre to meet that need, and after years of fundraising it's about to become a reality - thanks to a remarkable act of generosity.

Stewart Shepherd is the chairman of Hospice Hope. Jim spoke to him at one of their regular support cafes in Whitwick.
