Captain Clarke lambasts PJ Willett's Ryder Cup article
Darren Clarke has reacted furiously to an article written by European team member Danny Willett's brother, previewing the Ryder Cup.
PJ Willett, who rose to prominence whilst live-tweeting his brother Danny's Masters victory back in April, has been highly critical of Americans in his written preview for National Club Golfer, at one point describing them as "basement-dwelling irritants, stuffed on cookie dough and beer".
"It is not what Danny thinks, it is not what I think and it is not what Team Europe stands for," Darren Clarke insisted in Tuesday’s press conference.
"I was obviously very disappointed about it because this is an outside person expressing their opinion which is not representative of what our thoughts are."
Full coverage of the Ryder Cup begins at 13:00 BST on Friday on ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Radio 5 live.
