In the first programme of a new series, Bryan Burnett meets hill farmer, Joyce Campbell.
Bryan Burnett travels to Armadale in Sutherland to meet hill farmer, Joyce Campbell.
The Sheep Farmer of the Year in 2015 and a farmer for over 25 years, Joyce tells Bryan about her dream job, running her farm on Scotland's most northern coast.
Bryan joins Joyce rounding up her Cheviot sheep with the help of Sky, the sheepdog ..... and some of the loudest whistling ever heard!
Farming is a year round way of life. Joyce talks to Bryan about the joys of getting her sheep ready for a "Saturday night out" at the local market, but also the heartbreak of having to deal with dead and hypothermic lambs during the frequent storms which occur in the early months of the year.
In addition to 800 sheep, Joyce also works with cattle. When Ruairidh the bull needs an extra feed and a scratch, does Bryan volunteer?
In winter, Joyce can find herself feeding hens and cleaning kennels by the light of a head torch before daylight breaks and the real day job begins. But would she change her dream job, even if she could?
