I Introduced Chess to Kampala's Slums
Robert Katende has taught chess to children who cannot read or write
Robert Katende was brought up by his grandma in Uganda and was so poor that he spent all of his time outside of school working in a garden. Nevertheless he excelled at school and when he discovered chess, his life was transformed. He now teaches chess to some of Kampala's poorest children - some of whom can neither read nor write.
