Violence mars unofficial referendum in Venezuela
At least one person has been shot dead whilst queuing to take part in an unofficial referendum in Venezuela. The referendum was called by the opposition to tell President Nicolas Maduro what people think about his plans for a new assembly that could change the constitution. But the vote hasn't been formally authorised by Venezuela's electoral body and President Maduro has said the vote is not legitimate. But political activist Alberto Zambran, in Caracas, says the unofficial referendum is making an important democratic point.
