Egyptologist Dr Campbell Price

Bryan Burnett meets Egyptologist Dr Campbell Price, who looks after one of the biggest collections of ancient Egyptian objects in the world.

In this edition of Dream Job, Bryan meets Egyptologist Dr Campbell Price.

Campbell is curator at Manchester Museum, where he looks looks after one of the biggest collections of ancient Egyptian objects in the world.

He tells Bryan how he first became interested in ancient Egypt when, at the age of five, he saw a mummy exhibit at Kelvingrove Museum in Glasgow. Before long, Campbell was making his own pyramids in his back garden.

Whenever he could, Campbell would make Pharaohs and pyramids the focus of his school projects, and after school he went to Liverpool University to study Egyptology.

For the last five years, Campbell has been curator of Egypt and Sudan at Manchester Museum, looking after and researching the sixteen thousand ancient Egyptian objects they have there. He's also become a real-life Indiana Jones, by going out to Egypt to map a burial ground at a place called Saqqara.

Campbell tells Bryan about the work he was doing there, and why as well as humans, the ancient Egyptians also turned animals into mummies!
