The woman who unwittingly started the Nuclear Age
After a terrifying escape from Hitler's Germany, Lise Meitner - a humanitarian physicist of Jewish descent - helped unlock nuclear fission, the science driving the atom bomb. But she refused to take part in the Manhattan Project that led to the bombs that destroyed Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
