Are these owed an ethical duty?
Research on the brain has advanced to such a degree that scientists can now grow artificial brain-like material in the laboratory. Will there come a time when these "organoids," as they're called, will be entitled to human rights? Medical ethics experts in the United States say it's time to address this.
