The MUAs get their hands on some famous faces who they need to make-up for the red carpet and a surprise monochrome creative brief leaves the judges with some difficult decisions.

Ten aspiring make-up artists compete to be named Britain’s next make-up star.

Seven MUAs remain and they get their hands on some famous faces.

The guest judge is Caroline Barnes, a make-up artist to the stars who counts Cheryl, Gemma Chan, Emma Watson and Kylie Minogue among her clients. She’s been working red carpets for over 20 years, so knows a thing or two about how to keep celebrity clients looking flawless and feeling good – something the MUAs need to emulate this week.

Caroline is running the rule over the MUAs as they are challenged to get seven celebrities red carpet ready in just 45 minutes. Each MUA is allocated one celebrity client who is attending the TV Choice Awards Ceremony.

Gemma Atkinson tasks her MUA with brushing off the tiredness caused by her Breakfast Radio Show, Chizzy Akudolu challenges her MUA to create an ambitious drag-inspired look and star of the Jungle Anne Hegerty wants to shake off her stern reputation gained as The Governess on The Chase.

The MUAs will be judged on whether they can deliver what the client wants, in the time allocated and crucially, how the paparazzi shots look the next morning.

The next day in Glow Up HQ, the MUAs face a surprise creative brief for the first time as they are tasked with coming up with a jaw-dropping monochrome transformation. Restricted to a colour palette of black and white while having to think on their feet, some MUAs rise to the challenge, while others struggle to deliver.

In judging, the decisions are far from black and white for Val, Dominic and Caroline as they disagree over who should go into the Face Off elimination. In the end, they settle on two MUAs who have to create a perfect eyeliner to stay in the competition.
