Dany Cotton: 'I was exhibiting all the symptoms of PTSD'

Dany Cotton, the Commissioner of the London Fire Brigade, guest edited Woman's Hour on 26 July 2019 as part of the programme's Takeover week.
She's London's first female fire commissioner and is retiring in April 2020 after 32 years in the fire service.
Dany Cotton held the position at the time of the Grenfell Tower fire in 2017 and was at the scene during the blaze.
One of the topics she chose to discuss on her Woman's Hour programme was mental health at work.
She says that after Grenfell, she went to see her counselling and trauma team at work, and they said, "that I'm exhibiting all the symptoms of PTSD [Post Traumatic Stress Disorder]".
Watch the video to hear how Dany Cotton has been impacted by the incidents she's attended during her career and why she wants attitudes towards mental health in the workplace to change.
