Series 1
A unique makeover show that that sticks two fingers up to ‘fitting in’ and being ‘pretty’. It's a place where difference is celebrated and true identities are discovered.
Misfits Salon is a series of transformational short films set in the inclusive world of a hair salon run by Sophia Hilton, a self-confessed maverick and champion of anyone who feels like an outsider.
With bright yellow hair and colourful outfits, Sophia isn’t afraid to stand out from the crowd - but it hasn’t always been that way. After years of being bullied, Sophia knows what it’s like to feel like you don’t fit in. This experience shaped her entire salon philosophy, where she’s created a safe space that her clients can find their own individual style. This is the spirit of Misfits Salon.
Front and centre of each film is a person who wants to radically change their look. Lacking confidence, these new clients have been hiding in the shadows, wanting to be as invisible as possible. Sophia wants to give them the confidence to enjoy being noticed. Unlike other make-over shows, the transformation is led by them not an expert telling them what to wear. This isn’t about being ‘pretty’ it’s about revealing a person’s true personality and letting it shine.
