How do you rescue a grounded narrowboat?
Robbie Cumming demonstrates how to rescue a grounded narrowboat.
A narrowboat like Robbie's uses thousands of gallons of water working the locks on the Rochdale Canal which runs for 32 miles through 91 broad locks.
At Gauxholme in West Yorkshire Robbie has to 'jump ship' as his boat runs aground. Reservoirs were built to feed this thirsty canal - however sometimes lock pounds leak and run out of water.
His narrowboat Naughty Lass is left balancing on an uneven canal bed and could potentially tip over. It's his worst nightmare.
Will he be able to release more water and re-float his boat?
