Making friends with Pepper the Robot
The largest ever study of so-called 鈥渋ntelligent鈥 robots in care homes has found they improve the mental health of residents. The study was led by the University of Genova in Italy, which developed the robot鈥檚 Artificial Intelligence, and involved researchers from around the world.
Dr. Chris Papadopoulos from the University of Bedfordshire lead the evaluation of the study.
"If it met an English resident, it would load up its cultural knowledge base about that person to start with and have a guess that that English person may enjoy rugby or cricket or football or typical sports associated with English people as opposed to baseball or basket ball or sumo wrestling."
