Between 1945 and 1975, approximately half a million babies were put up for adoption. Most of the women were unmarried and under the age of 24. Now, the Joint Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights has announced an investigation - after a 成人论坛 news report highlighted the plight of unmarried women forced to give up their baby at birth throughout the 1950s, 60s and 70s. They are calling on the UK government to apologise. The Adoption Act of 1976 and Children's Acts of 1975 and 1989 are among the laws that made it easier for adopted children and their birth mothers to regain contact with each other. 成人论坛 Correspondent, Duncan Kennedy, was the first journalist to bring this story to our attention.
