For some, a way round vaccine mandates and other Covid restrictions is to get infected with Covid on purpose. An example is the Czech folk singer Hana Horka, who deliberately caught Covid so she could gain access to entertainment venues without a vaccination, but she sadly died a few days later.

Michael in the Netherlands says he and his family got infected on purpose when his place of work made vaccines compulsory, and visited people who had tested positive. Preferring to become infected with Covid rather than face the vaccine, he says he was not against the vaccine per se, but was reacting to the government's mandate.

He believes that your body will protect you more effectively than a vaccine - but a scientist on the programme stresses that the vaccine gives just as much protection as the body's natural immunity system, and provides protection against new variants that natural occurring antibodies do not.
