Russia says it is not to blame for global food crisis

Russia's United Nations envoy has walked out of a Security Council meeting after facing accusations the country deliberately sparked a global food crisis through its war in Ukraine.

The walkout happened after the European Council President, Charles Michel, blamed Moscow for using food supplies as a weapon against the developing world, forcing millions into poverty.

Gevorg Mirzayan is a political analyst in Moscow. He tells Newsday: 鈥淲e don鈥檛 stop Ukraine exporting鈥his is another fake story to blame Russia for another crisis鈥f you agree that Ukraine is part of Russia then Russia can facilitate export of Ukrainian grain. If you don鈥檛 think Ukraine part of Russia then it鈥檚 a Ukrainian issue.鈥
