Echdoe

A rock climber returns to the scene of a traumatic accident to climb again, but being in the quarry forces her to rethink.  Can she find her own way to make peace?

Echdoe is a poem-documentary about rock climber Cheryl Law, which takes place in the dramatic and atmospheric Dinorwig Slate Quarry - carved out of the beautiful North Wales landscape.

Following a life-changing climbing fall, Cheryl is told she might never walk again, launching her on a journey to heal the trauma of that day and testing her inner resilience to the limits. Echdoe follows her anxious return to the quarry years later, where this time, she intends to get to the top.

Face to face once again with the imposing rock she fell from, her trauma resurfaces forcing her to embark on a deeply personal quest to both reconnect with the landscape and find peace with the quarry in her own unique way.

Written and directed by theatre artist and film-maker Gwen Thomson with Director of Photography Lindsay Walker (The Welshman – BAFTA CYMRU, winner) and a crew of Welsh film-making talent, Echdoe showcases the stunning visuals and ethereal, aural landscape of the quarry and explores our connection to it.
