Ukraine: Russian forces ordered to leave Kherson
Russian forces in Ukraine have announced they'll begin their retreat out of the strategic city of Kherson in Ukraine. The city is seen as the doorway to Crimea and is the only regional capital to be captured by Russian forces since the invasion began.
Russia's commander in Ukraine said it was no longer possible to supply the city.
US president Joe Biden said Russia's decision to withdraw from Kherson shows its military has "some real problems".
However, Ukrainian authorities have been more skeptical about the announcement. Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky says his country is moving "very carefully" in response.
Alina Frolova is a former Ukrainian Deputy Defence Minister, now with the Centre for Defence Strategy in Kyiv. She spoke to Newsday about how residents were resisting Russian occupation.
