Is the UK鈥檚 Largest Lake Dying?
Northern Ireland's colossal Lough Neagh is facing a massive growth in toxic bacteria - and campaigners are warning that it might be beyond the point of no return.
Lough Neagh is unmissable on the map. It's a huge body of water right in the centre of Northern Ireland, which supplies half of Belfast's drinking water -- and 40% of Northern Ireland's overall. But this colossal lake is facing a calamitous problem: a massive growth of toxic bacteria, known as blue-green algae.
Campaigners are warning the damage to Lough Neagh might be beyond the point of no return, and recently held a 'wake' for the lake - to highlight their concerns that it is dying.
