Street Photography in Govanhill

Following street photographer Simon Murphy who has been documenting and celebrating Govanhill, Scotland鈥檚 most ethnically diverse neighbourhood, for over 20 years.

We meet street photographer Simon Murphy as he takes the final images for first major exhibition, and accompanying book publication. Govanhill is Simon鈥檚 long-term project documenting the people of this local area, which is truly international in its demographics, and follows a strong humanistic tradition in documentary photography.

With an estimated 88 languages spoken in the densely populated area, the neighbourhood is a melting pot of cultures and ethnicities, and while these differences have contributed to tensions in the community, they also make it one of the most diverse and exciting places in the city.

We follow Simon around Govanhill with his medium format camera as he meets and captures some new faces as well as old friends.
