Magma shifting under the Earth's crust has caused hundreds of earthquakes in Iceland in what Is believed to be a precursor to an eruption.
Scientists stress that a 15km river of magma running under the region is still active, but they say that seismic activity has decreased.
Alda Sigmundsdottir is a writer and journalist in Reykjavik, which has also been experiencing the multiple earthquakes. She's been writing about the situation on her "Letter from Iceland" newsletter. Newshour's Julian Marshall asked her whether the threat of an eruption was over.
