In January 2023, Ruth Perry took her own life. The headteacher of a primary school in Caversham, a leafy suburb of Reading, feared that an Ofsted report grading her school inadequate would cause her to lose her job.
An inquest is opening into her death - a tragedy, which family and friends have spoken candidly about. It's already led a wider debate about the mental health of headteachers and the school inspection regime in England.
