Steve McQueen tells Talking Movies of his "vital" documentary on Nazi Occupation
Oscar winning British director Steve McQueen has a formidable track record having made acclaimed features on the 1981 IRA hunger strike, sex addiction and slavery.
Now he’s turned to the Nazi occupation of Amsterdam during World War 2 during which three-quarters of the Dutch Jewish population was slaughtered.
McQueen’s film which has just opened in the US arrives at a time when anti-Semitism has been riding high because of the conflict in the Middle East. As he’s been telling Talking Movies’ Tom Brook this has, to him, just made his film more vital and urgent.
