Hannah Cockroft: ‘When you are born with a disability, you are told more often what you can’t do rather than what you can’
Seven-time Paralympic gold medallist Hannah Cockroft explains how her disability didn’t stop her from achieving success.
Speaking to 5 Live’s Adrian Chiles, she said: “When you are born with a disability, you are told more often what you can’t do rather than what you can.”
“Wheelchair racing was my way of proving I can do sport; I can do anything that I want to do.”
She went on to say that she “never set out to be a Paralympic champion”.
“It’s interesting how hard I can push my body, this girl that was told she would never really do much with her life. I just keep pushing the boundary to see what the finish line actually is”, she added.
