Mum of Nottingham attack victim: 'I want the officers to pause and reflect'
Emma Webber, mum of Barnaby who was stabbed to death last year in Nottingham, says police officer who shared graphic WhatsApp messages have 鈥渓ost their humanity鈥.
The mother of a 19-year-old boy who was stabbed to death last year in Nottingham has told 5 Live that police officers who have "lost their humanity" shouldn't be in the force anymore.
Emma has penned an open letter calling for greater respect for her son after members of a police WhatsApp group sent "abhorent" messages about her son's body following the attack.
Nottinghamshire Police have declined to comment.
Barnaby Webber and Grace O'Malley-Kumar, both 19, and 65-year-old Ian Coates were stabbed to death on 13 June 2023.
Valdo Calocane, 32, carried out the fatal stabbings in Nottingham, and attempted to kill three others. He was given an indefinite hospital detention order for manslaughter.
Emma told Naga Munchetty: "When you lose your humanity and your respect for life, I don't think you should be working in those services".
Emma called on the force to "pause and reflect" on the impact to Emma and her family, before adding, "this is a child", she said of Barnaby.
