More archaeological rabbits keep being pulled out of the hat at the Carlisle Cricket Club dig, this time it's a It's a tiny stretch of the 250,000 miles of road that stretched across the Roman Empire. No doubt chariot-jams and potholes were the order of the day two thousand years ago, but now the road is a silent witness to a time when Carlisle was on a Centurions sat nav.
