How can I get on the housing ladder?

Daniel Gibson asks what the parties can offer him to get onto the housing ladder.

One of the biggest issues for voters in this election is housing. There are a range of policies floated by the various parties aimed at movers and first-time buyers – from building more homes, helping with the deposit, abolishing stamp duty for some buyers and so on. All these policies will need to go under the microscope. Promises to build significant numbers of new homes will require levels of construction not seen for decades.

Daniel Gibson lives at home with no access to the ‘bank of Mum and Dad’. He asks what help is out there for people like him hoping to get on the first rung of the property ladder.

Adam Horton runs an estate agents business across Leicester, and he gives ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Leicester’s Conor O'Grady a sense of what the market's like in the city at the moment.
