Unearthing Fulbeck Manor's World War II history
It was the base for a major allied operation.
During World War II, Fulbeck Manor near Grantham was the home of the British Army's 1st Airborne Division.
In 1944 the division took part in Operation Market Garden, which saw paratroopers dropped on the Dutch city of Arnhem to seize a key bridge across the river Rhine.
80 years on from the ill-fated mission, which was immortalised in the film 'A Bridge Too Far', archaeologists carried out a dig to find traces of the manor's wartime past.
