Return to Paradise
DI Mackenzie Clarke’s made a name for herself in London. Now she’s back in the last place she wants to be – her hometown of Dolphin Cove. An Aussie twist on Death in Paradise.
This Aussie twist on much-loved murder mystery series Death in Paradise follows DI Mackenzie Clarke, a brilliant detective who, after a few years with London’s Metropolitan police, finds herself back in the last place she wants to be – her hometown of Dolphin Cove.
Suspended from her post with The Met following false accusations of tampering with evidence, Mackenzie has returned to sunny Australia, to sit out the investigation and look after her mother’s beach shack.
But this is no happy homecoming. Having fled the town six years ago, infamously leaving her ex-fiancée Glenn at the altar, Mackenzie is hardly welcomed back with open arms. Plus, people skills are not exactly her forte.
Still, with no other job options, and a compulsion for solving a mystery, the more challenging the better, a reluctant Mack is roped into joining the team at Dolphin Cove Police Station - working under Senior Sergeant Philomena Strong, who just happens to be the mother of her jilted ex.
Glenn is also the local forensic pathologist, and Mack’s worst fear soon becomes reality when she is forced to work with him on a series of murder cases.
But it’s not all bad – Mackenzie has a trusted buddy in Frankie, her and Glenn’s dog, who seems to have forgiven her absence, if no-one else has.
Once Mackenzie’s on a case, she applies her mind and tenacity to solve seemingly unsolvable crimes. This quickly makes her invaluable to the local police force. Might she just, over time, win over her new colleagues and get the people of Dolphin Cove to warm to her?
