An amiable, but passive, young man, Lewis has always assumed that he will follow in his father Isaac’s footsteps as a farmer.
However the introduction of the Military Service Act means he will be conscripted unless he can prove his indispensability to the war effort at home. Not one to bear a grudge, Lewis would rather go fishing than get embroiled with the family conflict unfolding around him at Halecot Farm.
