Rockwell
In Rockwell we trust
What is Rockwell?
Rockwell is me and I like playing fast electronic music to people.
What is Rockwell not?
The guy from the 80's who released "Somebody's Watching Me" on Motown.
What is the most played tune on your mp3 player right now?
Its a tune from a crazy punk band called The Dwarves which has a rude name. When you listen to super-clean electronic music all day sometimes it's nice to listen to something with real instruments in it that sounds like it has been recorded in a dustbin.
What is your guilty secret (record)?
Baltimore Club music. Most of it is just an 808 kick, a dusty break and a lil john sample of him shouting, but theres something about the rawness and groove of it that i love.
What was the first record you bought?
The Simpsons LP. I think the less said about that the better.
What is the soundtrack inside your head right now?
Neon synths, booming 808's, and modulating distorted basses are usually what ping around my mind.
What is the biggest gig you have played?
Playing in the main room of Amnesia in Ibiza after Chase and Status was probably the biggest. It was also the hardest club gig i have done by a country mile!
What is the smallest gig you have played?
I played a gig once in a small market town and there were about 5 people there.
Who would you most like to DJ head to head with?
I'd love to a VS with someone like Zane Lowe, he's an encyclopaedia of music and it would be cool to battle it out across music of any genre.
Do you have any DJing superstitions?
Not really, just the continual checking of my bag for my passport, earplugs and macbook charger as i walk to the tube station. Missing a show and letting everyone down because I left my passport at home is one of my worst fears.
Who would play you in the movie of your life?
Probably the dude who played the bad guy in Terminator 2. Apparently i look like him and people like to tell me that on my Facebook.... A lot.
What has been the greatest moment in your life so far?
Playing the Tim Westwood bomb off the sample launcher in the Radio 1 studio's! I've been wanting to do that for over 10 years!!
