Gary Williams Monroeviile Annie must be a very special person to have inspired such a beautiful song.
Super Blademan, Sheffield John Denver, a legend for sure and although I was never a fan of his music in general, this song is excellent. It expresses everything you feel for that special someone in so little words. It's also inspired the worlds best football anthem. UTB
Nancy/Lake Luzerne, NY USA It's simple and beautiful--like the nature that he loved so much.
ABERDEEN John Denver was, quite simply, a genius.
And is missed and still loved by millions of people across the planet.
Margaretha from The Netherlands The Annie's Song is one of my favorites amongst others.
The lyrics lift you up and make you dreamy about love. It captures the feelings you have for some one you love.
Almost 8 years now since he tragically died. For me he was a friend in good and bad times. I am gratefull for his legacy of music about love, life and peace.
Jon Williams = Plainview. Arkansas In regards to his love for Annie, Yes it was. But his love for his environment also engendered great songs in many areas.
Jon Williams - Plainview, Ar. No matter what he did or where he went, Annie was his first and only real love.
arnab, calcutta honey to the ears.
It is the musiclovers' greatest loss that he died so young.
Nick. Broadway. U.K Words from the heart,Music from the soul.
Ian Jones. Cynwyd, Denbighshire What a fantastic song! What a beautiful way to say how much you love someone.
Debbie, Japan My grandmother's name was Annie. She passed away last week at the grand old age of 92 in the north of England. I wasn't able to attend her funeral, but heard from my mother today that Annie's Song was one of the pieces of music played to celebrate her life. She was married to my grandfather for 67 years and survived him by a further 7 years. The lyrics sum up their life together. This song will from now on always remind me of them.
Pamela, Garland, Tx There was a time when I thought that Annie's Song was the most beautiful love song ever written. Then I heard one that topped it.......of course, it was "For You". Of course, only John Denver could top John Denver.
brian My daughter died and this song reminds me of her (love songs don't have to be about someone you fall in love with)
Maynard / Denmark No doubt. This is John Denvers best song. I love it so much. Especially because we use it as a fan song for my favourite football team - Viborg FF
Anne Miller I love this song and nothing can make me feel more moved than the soul filling melody.
Jury Livorati, Italy John Denver's music can improve everyone's life: everybody should listen to it
Jan, Crediton Devon I love Annie's Song but there are hundreds of other beautiful John Denver songs which I would love to hear played on the radio.
Incidentally, I understand that Annie's favourite song of John's is the wonderful Perhaps Love.
John was a fantastic singer/songwriter and his memory lives on in his songs and our hearts. Please play more John Denver songs.
Peter - Essex A great song by a great songwriter. It's well worth digging into JD's stuff - you will find some real gems and the best is Looking For Space from the Windsong album
Rosemary Campbell, Tebay, Cumbria Yes Annie's song was excellent but John had a wonderful gift of incorporating into his songs many aspects of life. Not just the happy ones he wrote but ones like "Perhaps Love" after the loss of his father and the expressions of love and care received from his fans turned his depression around and he wrote the song as a result. "Seasons of the heart" expresses the profound pain of a relationship which is breaking down, and his love of nature brought such wonderful songs as "Catch another butterfly" and "Rocky Mountain High", "Calypso".
Yet on the other hand he highlighted the problems of our world in "I want to live" about starvation, the profoundly moving song about the cemetery in Leningrad as it was called and the song he wrote in honour of those who lost their lives in the Space shuttle "They were flying for me". There are loads of other songs and many of us still feel a great loss to our world of not only a gifted singer/songwriter but someone who in his music touched out joy, our pain, our concerns and did many things apart from his music to change things practically.
Gavin Lurgan, N.Ireland James Galway first brought this song to my attention and then I decided to delve more into John's Work. A fantastic artist who is still dearly missed. Annie's song is beautiful but I still believe For You , to be a great love song.
Kristen, New Jersey, USA I've always thought that Annie must have been an incredibly lucky woman to have someone feel so much for her. It's always seemed to me that this is one of the most eloquent expressions of love out there.
Gabi from Germany Annie's Song is only one of many very fine songs of John Denver. It's absolutly worth digging a bit in his music. But Annie's Song drew my attention to this wonderful artist.
Hans, Germany His laments on not being covered sufficiently shows just what an ignorant Mr. Deutschendorfer was. "Annie's Song" has been covered in about every language of the world, including French (Michel Delpech, C'est ta chancon) and German (Jonny Hill, Mein Lied fuer Dich), the cover versions just didn't have any success, and you won't find them on the web. Still, they do exist.
kaylee sheffield i think so because the song was played at my grandmas funeral, RIP
Andrew Little, Nottingham (native of Sheffield) Demver's finest and Sheffield's finest too. It is the anthem for Sheffield United!
Known as the "Greasy Chip Butty song", it is "covered" by 20,000+ fans every home game to start both halves of the game.
None of the other top 100 gets such a mass rendition on such a regular basis.
A masterpiece
Sally from Tamworth, Staffs I hadn't heard this song in absolutley ages until my friend was playing a John Denver CD at work, Annies Song came on and I went as cold as cold and just wanted to start crying as the words to this song are really from the heart. I am getting married next year and this is going to be my chosen song needless to say im not expecting a dry eye in the house.
Thank you to John Denver for such a beautiful and heartfelt song.
Captain Randy Sipley John Denver's songs all come from the "heart". and what a heart this wonderful man had. I really miss him alot. God bless you my friend.
Robert Harvey Finchampstead berks No I dont think Annie's song was Johns finest song, although its the most popular one played on the radio. In my opinion his finest
was "poems, prayers, and promises, the words just make me stop and think how lucky we all are
graham handyside not only johns finest, but sheffield's finest song too!
