Something
The Beatles
The Beatles
Frank Sinatra described "Something" as "the greatest love song of the past fifty years". Was he right? Did Lennon or McCartney ever top it?

Beatle George Harrison's masterpiece. Soft and gentle, it carries such hallmarks as Harrison's favourite diminished chords and McCartney's inimitable harmonies. One of the most recorded songs of the 20th century and no wonder

Guillermo Bl茅fari, Quilmes, Argentina
"Something" is one of last century麓s music gems. It麓s a splendid blend of harmonies that ornament a unique melody. It麓s a timeless beautiful masterpiece.

Pete Fenelon, York
This was Harrison finally stepping into the limelight he deserved; for the last couple of years of the Beatles' existence he was producing songs far more immediate, accessible, and timeless than Lennon or McCartney.

Raja, New Delhi
This great song is elevated to atmospheric heights by McCartney's incredible bass lines.

Joanie Alford, North Carolina USA
Just hated it when a fool of a reporter asked George, "How d'ya think Paul comes up with those lovely tunes?" What gall!! George's beautiful melodies (not to mention his heart and soul lyrics) will stand proud beside any Maclen composition.

Neil Richardson, West Yorkshire
For such a flowing song it is surprising that George had so much trouble over the lyrics. The second line in particular caused difficulty as all he had was "Attracts me like a ......." John's advice was to "Sing anything you like, the right word will come eventually" and suggested pomegranate or spanner. As we now know George did eventually come up with a superlative piece of poetry.

Alan Munday, Norbury, London
Something sounds so much better without any orchestra on it. Shame about the lushness of the strings.

Rich Roach, Niagara Falls
Listen to Harrison's slide guitar - it has become his signature here.

Bonnemie Niel
is there a disco version of the song?
