Unsurprisingly most were scathing about Labour in power, feeling that they had taxed more and delivered less, especially in public services. But some were begrudgingly complimentary, or gave Labour backhanded compliments. One thought Blair had been very good at playing a right wing leader, while Brown had engaged in a massive redistribution of wealth. Hence they had been very successful at being seen as being a centre right party while following a distinctly socialist agenda.
One person complimented Labour on setting the Bank of England free, and felt that the extra cash for the NHS was to be applauded even if it had as yet bought few tangible improvements.
On the whole most felt that ordinary voters were bound to give Labour a second term, partly because the Conservatives had been in power for so long previously. But a few felt that voters would be very much more critical of Labour by the time of the next election and one even questioned whether Blair would survive that long to lead Labour into the election.
