Britain's birth rate is at its lowest ever recorded level. Just 1.66 children per woman which is below the level needed to replace the population in the long term.
Should women be encouraged to have more children or would it be more sensible to look to immigrants to cover the shortfall?
Martha is joined by Dr David Coleman, Reader in Demography at the University of Oxford and Anne Dunnett, former Advisor to the Commission of Racial Equality on European Policy.
