Two years ago, at the height of the Chechnyan War, a young French journalist decided to ignore the Russian ban on Western reporters covering the hostilities.
Disguised as a peasant, and with her satellite phone strapped to her waist, Anne Nivat sneaked across the border, and she was to return many times.
