As divorce rates rise, and serial monogamy becomes more and more common, the debate about children's surnames is growing.

Should the child take on the mother's maiden name when a relationship breaks down?
Or does serial name-changing damage a child's sense of identity? Perhaps children should be registered in the mother's maiden name to start with?
Journalist Elizabeth Hartley-Brewer, and Rosemary Carter, former chair of Solicitors Family Law Association, join in the debate.
