Ìý Cate Blanchett Friday 22 February 2002 Ìý
This week we've been talking to ex-FANYs about their role in the WW2, and tonight the film adaptation of Sebastian Faulks's novel Charlotte Gray hits the cinemas. With Cate Blanchett in the title role, it tells the story of a Charlotte, a Special Operations Executive dropped into Nazi-occupied France with the ulterior motive of finding her missing lover, an RAF pilot.

Cate Blanchett explains to Martha Kearney the reaction of the elderly French villagers as German tanks rolled through their village once more.
Charlotte Gray by Sebastian Faulks is published in paperback by Vintage, ISBN: 0099394316, £6.99
