Each year, Cambridge University awards the Adams Prize to a young UK mathematician. This year, for the first time in its 120 year history, it has been awarded to a women.
Dr Susan Howson from Nottingham University, has been given 拢12,000 for her research on number theory and elliptic curves. This ancient area of mathematics has important consequences for the world of code breaking.
Dr Howson talks to Martha about how she intends to use her prize money.
