The sight of Jonathan Ross unashamedly weeping in public last week led to headlines declaring that men are at last free to be openly emotional.
But do male celebrities and reality TV competitors shedding the odd tear really mean an end to gender stereotypes?
Psychologist Stephanie Shields and columnist Deborah Orr join Shelia to discuss whether men really are willing to let it out and does this outflow of emotions mean women might be compelled to bottle it all up.
