This week, the government put forward major proposals on domestic violence.
The statistics are horrendous. On average a woman will be assaulted 35 times before reporting it. Between a quarter and a third of victims of homicide are killed by a partner or former partner.
The government is suggesting giving anonymity to victims of domestic violence to encourage more women to come forward. It is also proposing tougher punishments for people who break non molestation orders.
