With the doyenne of baby manuals Gina Ford publishing a new child-care book, we're asking whether all these manuals and theories actually help or hinder maternal instincts.
One theory which seems to have stood the test of time is Jean Liedloff's Continuum Concept, whereby a mother carries her baby at all times. The book was first published in the 70's and has since been translated into 17 languages. Claudia Hammond met some parents still willing to give the Continuum Concept a try.
And child-care author Deborah Jackson and top obstetric physiotherapist Christine Hill join Jenni to discuss how new parents can steer a course through all the theories out there.
