Tighter Immigration Rules Thursday 1 May 2003
Tighter immigration laws which came into effect this month will try to stop young girls in the Asian community being forced to marry men who only want to gain entry to Britain.

Until April 16 year olds could sponsor spouses seeking to enter the UK. Now you have to be at least 18 to do so. It's hoped this new age requirement will deter parents from pressuring daughters into marriage.
However not everybody feels that changing the immigration laws is the right way to protect the interests of Asian women.
Anne Cryer MP and Milena Buym of National Assembly Against Racism join Jenni to discuss.
