Indian Tapestry Stitching Women's Lives - an exhibition currently showing in London tells the stories of rural Indian women through the quilts they embroider.
The brightly coloured quilts show women going about their everyday lives but also touch on issues like AIDS, female infanticide and domestic violence. The women's work is co-ordinated by ADITHI, a charitable organisation working with women in Bihar, north India.
Sharmini Selvarajah went to the exhibition and spoke to the founder of ADITHI, Viji Srinivasan. 'Stitching Women's Lives' exhibition is at The October Gallery, Lundonia House, 24 Old Gloucester Street, London, WC1 until 31 May. Tel: 020 7242 7367.
