Last Wednesday Afghanistan's president, Hamid Karzai, addressed the Labour Party Conference in Bournemouth. He told delegates that despite the fall of the Taliban movement nearly two years ago there are still threats to women's rights and girls' education.
Part of Karzai's proposed political solution involves the ratification of an Afghan constitution which will be debated in the next meeting of the loya jurga or grand council in December this year. As part of the draft constitution, a new women's rights bill has been drawn up.
Martha asked Paul Anderson, the 成人论坛's correspondent in Kabul, how much hope women can pin on the new bill to deliver real change.
