Breast-feeding Wednesday 29 October 2003
Newspaper headlines this week have declared that women no longer have the right to breast-feed at work.

The speculation follows the case of Helen Williams, a former RAF engineer who took her employer to a tribunal after they refused to allow her breast-feeding breaks. After an initial victory last year, the Employment Appeals Tribunal has now asked a fresh hearing to rule whether this amounted to sexual discrimination.
While we wait and see whether the new tribunal upholds the original ruling, we ask what rights women who want breaks to breast-feed or express milk actually enjoy under the law.
Conservative MP Julie Kirkbride, Liz Kendall, director of Maternity Alliance and Jenny Watson from the Equal Opportunities Commission join Sheila to discuss these issues.
