In today's report on the rituals surrounding birth and motherhood, Woman's Hour looks at Christian traditions.
Kathleen Griffin went to see a group of mothers having their children christened at the Sacred Heart church in Wimbledon. She talks to the Reverend Clare Robson about the rituals which remain in Western Christianity for new mothers and babies.
